Henry Bomgaars, 85, of Orange City died unexpectedly Saturday, June 24, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Memorial services were at 11 A.M., Tuesday, June 27, at First Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Steven Vander Molen officiating. Burial was prior to the service in the Newkirk Cemetery.

Bomgaars was born August 10, 1909, in Newkirk, the son of Henry & Minnie (De Jong) Bomgaars. He was raised in Newkirk and Platte, South Dakota, and married Kathryn Top,February 26, 1937, in Newkirk. The couple farmed at Newkirk until 1975, retiring to Orange City. She died October 15, 1987.

He was a member of First Reformed Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Gary & Janice of Denver, Colorado; three daughters, Muriel Powell, Cheryl and her husband Harvey Van Klompenburg, all of Orange City, and Nalora Westerveld of Spencer; a stepsister, Harriet Dahl of Valley City, North Dakota, a special friend Selma Vander Wel of Orange City, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
