Sioux County Capital, December 21, 1989

Mrs. Cornelia Bomgaars, age 84, of Orange City, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Cornelia was born February 18, 1905, at Newkirk, the daughter of Marinus Vander Poel and Hattie Vander Wilt Vander Poel.

On Dec. 21, 1928, she married Arie M. Bomgaars at Orange City. In 1960 they moved from Boyden to Orange City. Mr. Bomgaars passed away Dec. 3, 1984, at Orange City.

She was a lifelong resident of Sioux County. Mrs. Bomgaars was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City.

Survivors include her three sons, Marvin of Mason City, Marion of Cincinnati, Ohio, and LeeRoy of Libertyville, IL, and six grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Annis Smit and a brother, Henry Vander Poel.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 16, at the First Reformed Church with the Rev. Steven Vander Molen officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
