Funeral services were held in the Orange City First Reformed church Friday, December 8, for John A. Bomgaars, Sr., 76, of Orange City with Rev. Van Heukelom officiating.

Arrangements for the funeral were made by Van Etten Funeral Home and burial was held in the Middleburg cemetery.

He passed away December 4, 1961, in the Orange City hospital following a year's illness with a heart condition.

He was born November 24, 1885, at Middleburg to Arie Bomgaars and Cornelia De Bruyn. He married Kate Vander Wilt on February 13, 1907 at Middleburg.

They lived on a farm north of Orange City until 1948 when they retired to Orange City. He was a member of the First Reformed church in Orange City.

His wife, Kate, preceded him in death on September 5, 1952.

Surviving are two sons, Arie J. of LeMars and John A. of Orange City; one sister Mrs. Peter Verrips of Sioux Center; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
