Sioux County Index, Hull, July 23, 1986

Hull, Iowa - Mrs. H. P. (Faith) Bolks, 70, of Hull, died Thursday at her home of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
(Died July 17, 1986)

Services were held Monday at American Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Herman Van Galen officiating. Burial in Hope Cemetery at Hull under the direction of Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bolks, the former Faith Peterson, was born June 17, 1916 in Wakonda, SD. She graduated from the University of South Dakota with a bachelor of science degree in 1939 and taught school in Hull for two years. She married Dr. Herbert Paul Bolks on June 7, 1941, in Boise, Idaho. The couple returned to Hull in 1946.

She was a member of American Reformed Church and American Reformed Church Women. She was a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary, Wigman-Koele Post 380, and was state president from 1962-1963. She was chairman of Hull Centennial in 1973, and was also vice president of Hull Investors. Mrs. Bolks was named Citizen of the Year by the City of Hull in 1982.

She was a former member of Alpha Xi Delta, PEO, and American Association of University Women.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Randall (Marcia Ann) Harms of Canistota, SD; one son, Robert of Cedar Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Sayre of Vermillion, and Mrs. Gordon Feldhaus of Sioux Falls, and three grandchildren.
