Service for Mrs. Sjoerd Goslinga , 83, of Orange City were held Wednesday from the First Christian Reformed church with the Rev J Lunuist officiating. Mrs. Goslinga died early Monday at the home of Peter Goslinga, her son, where she had been making her home for the past four years.

She was born Clara Dykstra May 17, 1879 in the Netherlands. She came to the U.S. and to Sioux County at the age of 12, On Feb 22, 1897, she married Sjoerd Goslinga. The couple lived on farms in the Hospers, Alton and Orange City areas until their retirement to Orange City in 1936. Mr. Goslinga passed away in 1942.

Survivors include sons John of Hospers, Peter and Theodore of Orange City; daughter, Mrs. Jesse Eason of Orange Cityand Mrs. Harry (Susy) Bussamus of Grandville; 13 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Edward Dykstra of Rock Valley.

Sioux Center News, May 24, 1962

Mrs. Sjoerd Goslinga, 83, died in Orange City Monday at the home of her son, Peter, where she had resided the last four years.

Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. Rev. J. B. Hulst officiated and burial was in the Orange City cemetery under direction of the Van Etten funeral home.

Mrs. Goslinga was born May 17, 1879 in The Netherlands. She came to the United States at the age of 12. She was married to Sjoerd Goslinga, February 22, 1897. They resided on farms in the Hospers and Orange City counties until 1936 (or 1938) when they moved to Orange City.

Survivors besides Peter are two other sons, John of Hospers and Theodore of Orange City; two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Eason of Orange City and Mrs. Harry Bussanmas of Granville, IA and 13 grandchildren.
