May 26, 1923 - March 29, 2013

Mrs. Christina Rens, age 89, of Hull, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Orange City Area Health System Hospital.

There will be a memorial service on Monday, April 1, at 2:00pm, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Carl Klompien will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Christina was born on May 26, 1923, in rural Hull, the daughter of Syne and Christina (Broek) Sybesma. She was raised at Perkins and graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull.

On June 2, 1942, she married Gerrit L. Rens at Perkins. After living in Sioux Center for a short time, they made their home on a farm near Hull, where she was a homemaker. Gerrit passed away on January 13, 2001, at Hull.

Mrs. Rens was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church. She liked raising flowers and playing cards with her friends. She enjoyed being a farm wife and visiting with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Mary and Dale Pollema, of Rock Valley; and a son and his wife, David and Beverly Rens, and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Rens, all of Hull; eleven grandchildren and their spouses, Bonnie and Steve De Ruyter, Belinda and Mike Altena, Barry and Patty Pollema, Bradley and Kerri Pollema, Becky and Terry Van Maanen, Rochelle and Mark Vaandrager, Melissa and Shad Kats, Shanna and Steve Cannegieter, April and Aaron Leusink, Holly and Jeffrey Verhoef, and Dustin Rens; thirty great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Rens; a granddaughter, Michelle Rens; five brothers, Bill, Clarence, David, Jon, and Stan Sybesma; and three sisters, Margaret Altena and Betsy and Gertrude Sybesm
