Mr. Douwe Dykstra Passed away at the Doornick hospital, at after an illness of four month at Orange City, on Friday June 24, at the hospital. He was nearly 86 years old.

Born in the Netherlands on July 14, 1863, Mr. Dykstra came to America in the year of 1870. In 1885 he was united marriage to Alice Van Putten whoi preceded him in death Jan. 30, 1943. Four children were born to them who now survive, namely Mrs.Gerrit Wandscheer of Sioux Center, Albert Dykstra of Sheldon, Harry Dykstra of Orange City and Mrs. William Doornick also of Orange City. The Dykstra family came to make their home in Sioux Center in the year of 1888 and lived here for many years. He was one of Sioux Center first dray men and also was a member of the town council for a number of years. They also lived in Doon and Hull for a number of years and later moved to the Sheldon Holland Home.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon June 28, 1949 at the home of his daughter Dr. and Mrs. Doornick at Orange City and at the American Reformed Church in Orange City. Interment was made in the Sioux Center Cemetery
