HENRY VAN HOUTE LAID TO REST AT BOYDEN, SAT.

Mr. Henry Van Houte, 72 years of age, died Wednesday morning, October 25, 1961, at his home in Boyden, Iowa, following a brief illness.

He was a son of Rev. and Mrs. Jacob Van Houte, was born at South Holland, Illinois, on May 15, 1889.

He lived in Boyden the past 37 years.: Mr. Van Houte was cashier at the Farmers Savings Bank in Boyden for the past 19 years, prior to that was bookkeeper at the Co-Operative Creamery there. He attended the Orange City Academy and graduated from Hope-'College, Holland, Michgan. For several years he served as an-elder-and Sunday School teacher in the United Presbyterian Church.

He belonged to the American and Veterans of World War I organizations. On June 19, 1922, at Butte, Montana, he married Florence B. Dunn, and to this union three daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Gerrit, Jacob Jr., John,-Marius and Will; also four sisters, Jeannette, Theodora, Wilmina and Elizabeth. Surviving a are the widow and daughters Betty Lon (Mrs. C. L. Horsley) of Pierre South Dakota; Marjorie Jean (Mrs. M. C. Thompson) of Colorado Springs CO; and Mrs. Donna Lee (Mrs. T. C. Owens ) of Oak Park, Illinois. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Henry J. Rensink of Boyden; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Saturday October 28, 1961 at 1:30 p.m. from the United Presbyterian Church in Boyden. Rev. H. G. Schoon officiated. Burial was in the Boyden cemetery under the direction of the co-operative Funeral Service of Sioux Center, Iowa.

At the services, Mrs. Alfred Doorenbos sang ‘Safe in the Arms of Jeses” and ‘He the Pearly Gates Will open.” Pall bearers were Logan Vanden Brink, Alfred Doornenbos, John Haspels, George Harpels, Joe A. Horn and Kenneth Meyn. Relatives and friends from a distance to attend the funeral were from Pierre SD, Oak Park IL, Colorado Springs, Cogswell, North-Dakota; Worthington, Minnesota; Melvin, Rock Rapids, George, Orange City, Sioux City, Council Bluffs, Milford, Sheldon and Shenandoah, Iowa.
