Martena Gertrude Dykstra, 76, Rock Valley died Sunday, Aug. 1, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Services were Wednesday Aug 4, at first Reformed Church in Rock Valley , with Rev. Henry Poppen officiating. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, under the direction of Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Martena Dykstra, daughter of William and Jennie (Solsma) Kruiselbrink, was born May 9, 1928, near Primghar. She married John U. Dykstra on Jan 20, 1948. They lived in Rock Valley. She worked as a custodian at Rock Valley Public School for a number of years. She was a member of First Reformed Church in Rock Valley and active in the Mary Circle. She was an avid Minnesota Twins and Northwestern College Red Raider fan. She enjoyed cooking, baking and especially playing cards with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband d, John U. Dykstra of Rock Valley; two sons Dennis and Tricia Dykstra of Urbandale’ and Jim and Joyce Dykstra of Farragut; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a daughter –in-law Sandy Dykstra of Loveland, CO.; and a sister-in-law Joan Kooiker of Middleburg.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Dykstra; a sister, Cynthia Kruisselbrink; three brothers-in-law, William Kooiker, William Dykstra and Clarence Mulder, and two sisters-in-law, Eva Dykstra and Jess Mulder.
