Ella Van Houten, 85, of Hawarden died here Thursday, Jan. 27 at the Hillcrest Care Center.
Services were at 1 p.m. Monday at Christian Reformed Church in Hawarden. The Rev. William J.
Van Der Heide officiated. Burial was at Grace Hill Cemetery. A prayer service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Dow Funeral Home.

Mrs. Van Houten, the former Ella Vander Sluis, was born on March 24, 1897, near Ireton. She
spent her entire life in the Ireton and Hawarden areas and was a member of Christian Reformed
Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert Dena Baker of Glencoe, Mo.; a son, John of Beaumont, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Susie Boerma of Ogilvie, Minn.
