FORMER BOYBEN POSTMASTER Dies
Jacob Van Houte, 1880-1949

Boyden. — Mr. Jacob Van Houte, age 69 years, died Tuesday morning at 7 a m. He was born Nov. 21, 1880 at Almelo, Netherlands and died November 22, 1919

As a youth he lived in Boyden being the son of Rev. and Mrs. Jacob Van Houte. On Feb 8, 1910 he was married to Jennie Compaan at Westfield, N.D. His places of residence were Westfield, ND, Manhattan Mont, Platte SD, Strasburg ND and Boyden IA. For the last 18 years he maintained his residence in Boyden. In 1936 he was appointed as postmaster at Boyden.

He is survived by his widow, one son Theodore of Sheldon and two daughters, Mrs. Howard Deal (Marie) of Red Top MN, and Mrs. Arthur Vos (Ruth) of Sheldon . He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, two sisters Mrs. Hendy Rensink of Boyden and Jeanette of S. Pasadena, CA. and two brothers, Gerrit of Newberry CA and Henry of Boyden.

Three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. He was a member of the Boyden Reformed church. Funeral service were held at 2:00Friday Nov 25 at the Henry Rensink home. Interment was in the Boyden cemetery. Pall bearers were Jake Van Diepen, Gerrit Kooiman, Jim Kool, Henry Heusinkveld, Bill Kwikkel and Henry Auberg.
