Funeral services for Henry Vander Vliet, Sr., of Sioux Center were held Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Carmel Reformed church with Rev. H. A. Harmelink officiating. Arrange ments were by Vander Ploeg’s Funeral home of Sioux Center and burial was in Carmel Cemetery.

Mr. Henry Vander Vliet, Sr., passed away late Saturday evening at the age of 78 years, 7 months
and 2 days. Mr. Vander Vliet came to America at the age of 11 years and settled in Sioux County where he spent most of his life. He was unied in marriage to Minnie Burgers on February 13, 1902 at Orange City. To this union waw born the following children: Hattie, Mrs. Frank Ver Mulm; Winnie, Mrs. William Ver Mulm; Henry; Evert; Gerrit; Andrew; Mina, Mrs. Rav De Jong and Cornie.

Mr. Vander Vliet is also survived by 33 grand children and 18 great grandchildren as well as one brother, Evert of Colton SD. And one sister Mrs. John Schuurman of Doon. One brother Gradus preceded him in death and two sisters Mrs. Jake Jans and Mrs. Gerrit Noonen.

Mr. Vander Vliet was a member of the Carmel Church and had served on the consistory over 20 years.
