Sioux Center News of March 10, 1960

Rites Held Monday For Andrew Van Kalsbeek, 90
Funeral services were held at the Bethel Christian Reformed church of Sioux Center at 1:30 p.m. Monday for Andrew Van Kalsbeek. 90, long-time resident of Sioux Center who died at his home Friday morning. Rev. Clarence Vander Plate officiated and burial was made in the Ireton cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Mr. Van Kalsbeek was born July 15, 1869, In the Netherlands and came to America when a young man and spent all his years as a farmer until his retirement. He was united in marriage lo Nellie Statema in February of I902 at Orange City.

To this union were born 12 children, six of whom are living, George and Henrietta of Sioux Center; Minnie, Mrs. Peter Posthuma, of Artesia, Calif.; Tillie, Mrs. Gossen De Boer, of Hull; and Nellie of Sioux Center. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Four sons, two daughters, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Pallbearers were Allen Vande Stouwe, Gordon De Boer, John Statema, Arthur Statema, Clarence Statema and Peter Statema.
