Josephine Martha was the daughter of Charles Kaster and Emilie Garnmeister Kaster. She was baptized on July 13, 1913, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. She attended country schools at Edna. She was confirmed on May 17,
1931, also at Peace Lutheran.

On March 10, 1937, she married Berend H. Tiedeman at Peace Lutheran Church, Rock Rapids. They farmed at Hull, living on the same land for 52 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Hull and the church's Helping Hands Circle.

Survivors include her husband, Berend; two sons, Kenneth, and his wife, Carol, of Hull; and Harlan, and his wife, Dorothy, of Beresford, South Dakota; two daughters, Brenda, of Sunnyside, Washington; and Susan, and her husband, Dale Shumaker, of Canistota, South Dakota; thirteen grandchildren; three brothers, Herman Kaster, of Hull; Arthur Kaster, of Rock Rapids; and Lawrence Kaster, of Texas; and
two sisters, Mrs. Ferd (Lorine) Tiedeman, of George; and Mrs. Ernest (Marie) Johnson, of Texas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Mrs. Josephine M. Tiedeman, age 76, of rural Hull, passed away Wednesday, August 2, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Josephine Martha was born May 24, 1913, at George, the daughter of Charles Kaster and Emile Garnmeister Kaster. She attended country schools at Edna.

On March 10, 1937, she married Berend H. Tiedeman at Rock Rapids. They farmed at Hull, living on the same land for 52 years.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Hull and the Church’s Helping Hands Circle.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 5, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Hull, with the Reverend Paul Birkedal officiating. Interment followed at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, under the direction of the Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home of Hull.
