Elma C. Dykstra, 69, of Alma MI., died Aug. 16 1993 at Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma.
Mrs. Dykstra was born March 9, 1924 in Sioux Center, the daughter of Jacob Van Steenwyk and Ida Van Ek. She married Wesley Dykstra. He grew up in Orange City and was the son of BD Dykstra Mrs., Dykstra and her husband moved to Alma in 1958 from New Concord, Ohio. She received her bachelor’s of arts degree from Alma College and her master of arts from Central Michigan University. She also studies at Columbia University. She taught art at Alma Public Schools at the middle and high school levels. She was a professor at Alma College and CMU, teaching in the arts department. She was a practicing artist as well in textiles, ceramics, silver jewelry and calligraphy.

Survivors include her husband, Wesley of Alma; a brother Noeman Van Steenwyk of Sioux Center; and a sister Mary Kwikkel of Sioux Center
