MRS. H. J. VANDEWEERDE
ROCK VALLEY—Mrs. Herman J. Vande Weerd, nee Jennie Van Eldik. was born in Rock Valley on April 23, 1894 and had attained the age of 45 years, and 1 month, when death suddenly summoned her Monday, May 22, 1939.

January 20. 1915 she was united in marriage to Herman J. Vande Weerd and to this union four children were born. One son Clifford preceded her in death in August 1935. The others arc Mrs. Henry Vugteveen, Nellie of Sioux Falls, S.D.. John Vande Weerd of Lake Mills. la., .and Hermina at home. She also leaves her mother.
Mrs. Diek Van Eldik. Sr.. five sisters and three brothers. One sister, Mrs. Sam Vander Wey died in the autumn of 1935. Her father Dick Van Eldik died in June 1938. Her husband is left to mourn her passing.

Funeral services were held Friday with a short service at the home followed at the First Reformed church of which the deceased was a lifelong member, conducted by Rev. M. Aberson assisted by Rev. J. A. Kettle. Mrs. Jas. Vander Ploeg and Mrs. F. Gunnink sang "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be" and "Saved by Grace". Interment was made in the addition of Valley View cemetery.
