Albert J Dykstra, age 71 of rural LeMars, died Sunday, July 17, 1994 at his farm home. Funeral services were held on Wedsday , July 20 1994 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Timothy Vink officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.

Albert John was born June 16, 1923 at Orange City, the son of Peter and Emma (Rensink) Dykstra . He was raised on a farm near Orange City; On March 11, 1943 he was inducted into the United States military, serving in the Philippines, Germany, Alaska and Canada. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant on June 28, 1946. During active duty, he married Elizabeth De Jager on Dec. 6, 1944 at Orange City. They made their home in Orange City where Albert was employed as a body mechanic at Cambier Motors. In 1956 they moved to a farm near Seney. He was a member of the First Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; a son Perry and his wife Valerie of Le Mars; a daughter, Marvella and her husband Larry Landman of Doon; 10 grandchildren; a sister Mathilda Vander Meide of Orange City; and a brother Lawrence of Maurice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Cheryl Dykstra.
