David Otten, 71, of Hawarden died Wednesday, Aug. 31,1983, in a Sioux City hospital.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Community Church in Hawarden. The Rev. Ralph Van Rheenen officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Dow Funeral Home. Pallbearers were John Otten, Jr., Donald Van Veldhuizen, LaVerne Anderson, Roger Otten, Terry Kamstra and Larry Kamstra.Mr. Otten was born July 30,1912, in the Netherlands. He came to the United States and to Canton, SD, at the age of seven. He moved to the Ireton area in 1940. He married Leona Kamstra Aug. 18, 1943, in Orange City. They lived in the Canton and Hudson, SD, area, moving to Hawarden in 1950.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dick and John, both of Hawarden; one daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Elaine) Phipps of Lansing, KS; four brothers, Gilbert of Alcester, SD, John, Dick and Mike, all of Akron; three sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Bertha) Earl and Anna Otten, both of Inwood and Mrs. Virgil (Cora) Peterson of Hawarden, and eight grandchildren.
