Cora Otten
Cora Otten was born on January 7, 1905 in Rock Valley, the daughter of John G. and Hattie (Van Grouw) De Boer. She attended rural school near Rock Valley. Cora married John Otten, Jr. on February 21, 1929. This marriage took place in Rock Valley. Together they farmed in the Rock Valley area, near Hull, and later near Doon. They moved to an. acreage near Doon in 1941. They retired from farming and moved into Doon in 1977.

John died on February 16, 1979. Cora moved into the Valley Manor Nursing Home in February of this year. Cora was a member of the Martha. Circle of the Doon Christian Reformed Church and an active member of the Doon Senior Citizens.

Cora died Thursday, June 16,1988 at the Valley Manor Nursing home at the age of 83 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Art De Boer; sister, Effie Van Middendorp; an infant brother, and two great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Hester (Mrs. William Niemeyer) and Theresa (Mrs. Nick Bloemendaal) both living in Rock Valley; three sisters, Hattie Cieveringa of Rock Valley,
Gertie Van Middendorp of Doon, and Jennie Driesen living in Rock Valley; 10 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
