Thomas Kooima
Thomas Kooima, 56, of Rock Valley died Sunday, October 11, in a hospital in Rock Valley after a long illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, at First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley, the Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Kooima was born January 26, 1931, in Rock Valley where he attended Rock Valley Christian School. He married Elizabeth Klarenbeek December 7, 1951, in Rock Valley.

The couple farmed north of Rock Valley for one year prior to his service in the Army during the Korean conflict from 1952 until 1954. The couple then farmed south of Rock Valley. Kooima was a member of First Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Darrell of Sioux Center; a daughter, Debra Dooyema of Sioux Center; a brother, Gerrit of Rock Valley; a sister, Janet Van Bochove of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; and a granddaughter
