Hattie Hoogland
Hattie Hoogland, 91, of Sheldon died Saturday, February 19, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Funeral service was Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull with the Rev. John Engbers officiating. Interment was at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Miss Hoogland was born July 18, 1913, in rural Sioux Center, the daughter of Peter and Tillie (Berghorst) Hoogland. She was raised at Hull and Doon, where she graduated from the Doon Christian School. For many years, she cared for her widowed father on his farm.

After he died in 1958, she moved to Sheldon, where she was a dietary aid at the Holland Home, now called the Christian Retirement Home. She lived in the Autumn Park Apartments in Sheldon for several years. In January of 2000, she transferred to Pleasant Acres. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Survivors include many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Hoff, Winnie Vanden Oever and another Hattie at the age of 14 months; and three brothers, Gerrit, Edward and Albert Hoogland.
Memorials will be directed to Pleasant Acres.
