SERVICES HELD AT IRETON FOR RALPH HOOGLAND
Ralph Hoogland, 46, a farmer of the Ireton territory, ended his life last Thursday afternoon by hanging himself in the barn. An inquest gave the apparent cause of the suicide as "despondency because of poor health."

Ralph J. Hoogland, son of Roelof and Maggie Hoogland, was born January 20, 1903, at North Yakinia, Wash. He came to Sioux county when he was eight, locating southwest of Ireton. Later he moved to the Levi Bushby farm where he lived until his marriage to Florence A. Noon September 4, 1935. He was baptized in the United Presbyterian church and received his education in the rural schools.

He is survived by his widow; his aged father; five brothers, Walter of Ellsworth, Minn., Jake, Pete and Andrew of Hawarden, and Theodore of Orange City; two sisters, Mrs. William Torwelle of Hawarden and Mrs. H. C. Braafhart of Mallard, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his mother, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services, under arrangements of the Satterlee Funeral home of Ireton, were held in the Presbyterian church in Ireton at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon with Rev. J. Boyd Stevenson officiating.
