Madeline M. Ritter, 52, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and formerly of Ireton and Sioux Center, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 25, in a Sioux Falls hospital after a brief illness. Services were at 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 28, at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. The Rev. Barney Friesth officiated. Burial was in Hills of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Boom Funeral Home of Sioux Falls.

Mrs. Ritter, the former Madeline Muth, was born April 4, 1932, at Sioux Center. In 1934, she moved with her family to Sioux Falls and in 1943, she moved to Ireton where she was graduated from high school in 1950. She attended Northwestern College at Orange City and Sioux Falls College. After receiving her degree, she taught school at Alcester, S.D. and Ireton.

On April 4,1953, she married Harold Ritter at Ireton. The couple has lived in Sioux Falls since their marriage. Mrs. Ritter was employed at Sencore Electronics the last 15 years and with Stanley Home Products.. She also was involved in cake decorating the last five years.

Mrs. Ritter was a number of the First Lutheran Church and a Sunday School teacher. She also had served as president of the Franklin School PTA the last several years.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Durwin (Jean) Hoff and Lori Ritter, both of Sioux Falls, and Mrs. Brett (Valarie) McGregor of Yankton, S.D.; two sons, Bruce of Sioux Falls and Mark of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her mother, Mrs. Hazel Muth of Sioux Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Eugene (Karen) Whitmarsh of Yakima, Wash., and Mrs. William (Rhonda) Brenton of Snokomish, Wash; four brothers, Homer and Lenneth Muth, both of Sioux Falls, Mario Muth of Akron, Iowa, and tennis Muth of Hartford, S.D., and three grandchildren
