HAWARDEN, IOWA- CLARENCE TERPSTRA, 81, of Hawarden, Iowa died Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at the St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hawarden Community Church with Rev. Doug Baker officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, Iowa.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Clarence Terpstra was born July 6, 1925 in Kalkaska, Michigan, the son of Jake and Flora (De Jong) Terpstra. He married Lyda Groeneweg February 19, 1947 at Rock Valley, Iowa. Together
they farmed near Hawarden, Iowa. Clarence worked as a carpenter and he also did concrete work while employed with the silo crew for Harmelink Block and Tile.

He was a charter member of the Hawarden Community Church where he was an active member.He was a very gifted handy man and always enjoyed visiting with neighbors, family and friends.

Lyda died on April 14, 1994. Clarence is survived by his 6 children, Ed Terpstra and Beth of Westfield, Iowa, Duane Terpstra and Leah of Hawarden, Sharon Peters and Terry of Indianola, Iowa, Marlys Thompson and Dennis of El Paso, Texas, Randy Terpstra and Linda of Hawarden, and Connie Voegel and Brian Six of Indianola, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Harry Terpstra of Glenwood, Minnesota, Ada Terpstra of Sioux Center, Iowa, Agner Terpstra and Nella of Rock Valley, Pete Terpstra and Ruth of Zeeland, Michigan, Jake Terpstra and Carol
of Holland, Michigan, Floyd Terpstra and Ruth of Rock Valley and Agnes Harmelink of Sioux Center; and a brother-in-law, Jake Teunissen and wife Margaret of Rock Valley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lyda; brothers, David and John; a sister, Florence Teunissen and an infant sister, Florence.
