Obituary:
Ireton, Iowa- Edwin T. Winterfeld, 86, of Ireton, died Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ireton with Rev. Andrew Carlson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Monday, with the family present beginning at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Edwin T. Winterfeld was born June 30, 1926 at Sioux Center, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Edna (Rehder) Winterfeld. He grew up in Sioux Center and graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1943. He worked on the home farm until 1948.
On February 22, 1948 he was united in marriage with Phyllis Iverson from Hudson, South Dakota. They moved to a farm near Ireton, Iowa where they have resided ever since. Edwin worked with Harold Smith on his well crew and worked with the A.S.C. aside from farming.

Edwin was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Ireton. He was a retired member of the West Sioux Sportsman Club.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Ireton; two sons, Gregg (Becky) Winterfeld of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Curtis (Roxann) Winterfeld of Hawarden, Iowa; a daughter, Janine (Troy) Sonichsen of Sioux City, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jodi (Eric) McClendon of Sioux City, Jill (Kenny) Halligan of Sugar Land, Texas, Joey (Jerred) Younie of Rapid City, South Dakota, Cathy (James) Bushby of Hawarden, Christy (Josh) Bruner of Hawarden, Jesse (Brent) West of Fontanelle, Nebraska, Tayce Sonichsen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Tara (Sean) Moore and Carmen (Eric) Nila all of Cabot, Arkansas; 17 great-grandchildren, Saniyya, Rafe, and Riker McClendon, Jacob and Caitlyn Bushby, Katcher and Adley Halligan, Javin and Jackson Bruner, Madisen and Reagen Younie, Garrett, Dakota, Colton, Trynity and Gage West, and Lexi Nila; loving support of brother, Duane and Marlene Winterfeld of Sioux Center, a sister-in-law, Joann Winterfeld of Ireton and a brother-in-law, Bob Iverson of Hawarden; and other family members, Carroll and Betty Winterfeld, Merlyn and Doris Winterfeld, Marlene Wegner; and many nephews and nieces.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Julius; a daughter-in-law, Judy Winterfeld; and a sister-in-law, Elly Iverson.
