Rouvina Wiekamp
August 7, 1911 - January 21, 2013
Mrs. Rouvina Wiekamp, age 101, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Orange City Area Health System Hospital.

There will be funeral service on Thursday, January 24, at 10:00am, at the Newkirk Reformed Church in rural Hospers. The Rev. David Powers will officiate. Interment will follow at the Newkirk Cemetery.

Rouvina was born on August 7, 1911, on a farm in rural Maurice, the daughter of Lou and Jennie (Roghair) Cleveringa. She was raised by Maurice and Alton.

On February 2, 1940, she married Albert Dean Wiekamp at her parents’ home in rural Alton. They farmed near Carnes for thirteen years. In 1953, they moved to the Newkirk area, where they continued to farm. In August of 1999, they moved into Orange City. On August 8, 2003, Albert became a resident of the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. He passed away there on August 13, 2004.

Mrs. Wiekamp was a member of the Newkirk Reformed Church, where she participated in the Ladies' Chorus and in various women’s work groups. She had a strong faith and a wonderful work ethic.

She enjoyed crocheting, talking on the telephone with her family and friends, making chicken buns for birthdays, offering a lunch if you stopped by, and gardening. Spending time with her grandchildren was especially important to her, and she loved to bring them to the Clay County Fair in Spencer each year. There would be a packed lunch and a card table in the trunk of the car for lunch time. She was looking forward to her fifteenth great-grandchild arriving soon. Her spunky attitude was welcoming to everyone.

Survivors include her son, Arlan Wiekamp, of Sheldon; her daughter, Janice Wiekamp, of Orange City; six grandchildren and their spouses, Valerie and John Cain III, of Ankeny; Kevin and Tonya Wiekamp, of Sanborn; Gail and Clayton Rensink, of Sioux Center; Marla and Tom Wibben, of Sheldon; Mavis and Rick Henning, of George; and Carisa and Mark Ten Kley, of Sheldon; fourteen great-grandchildren, John IV, Zachary, and Lexi Cain; Trevor and Adrianne Wiekamp; Timothy and Cody Rensink; Carter, Evan and Ella Wibben; Madison, Allison, and Austin Henning; and Olivia Ten Kley; a sister and her husband, Alice (Foreman) and Robert Vander Broek, of Orange City; and two sisters-in-law, Wilmina (Ed) Cleveringa and Wilmina (Nick) Cleveringa, both of Orange City.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Eunice Wiekamp; two brothers, Ed Cleveringa and Nick Cleveringa; three sisters, Henrietta, and her husband, Hilbert Jager; Kathrine, and her husband, Marion Vander Brake; and Lora Cleveringa; and a brother-in-law, Jake Foreman.
