Rouvina was born on August 7, 1911, on a farm in rural Maurice, the daughter of Lou and Jennie (Roghair) Cleveringa. She was raised by Maurice and Alton.
On February 2, 1940, she married Albert Dean Wiekamp at her parents’ home in rural Alton. They farmed near Carnes for thirteen years. In 1953, they moved to the Newkirk area, where they continued to farm. In August of 1999, they moved into Orange City. On August 8, 2003, Albert became a resident of the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. He passed away there on August 13, 2004.
Mrs. Wiekamp was a member of the Newkirk Reformed Church, where she participated in the Ladies' Chorus and in various women’s work groups. She had a strong faith and a wonderful work ethic.
She enjoyed crocheting, talking on the telephone with her family and friends, making chicken buns for birthdays, offering a lunch if you stopped by, and gardening. Spending time with her grandchildren was especially important to her, and she loved to bring them to the Clay County Fair in Spencer each year. There would be a packed lunch and a card table in the trunk of the car for lunch time. She was looking forward to her fifteenth great-grandchild arriving soon. Her spunky attitude was welcoming to everyone.
