Obituary:
Rock Valley, Iowa: Delores Gayer, 83, of Rock Valley, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Canton Good Samaritan Center in Canton, South Dakota. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Rock Valley. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley.

Delores was born July 31, 1929 at Canton, South Dakota. She was raised by her grandparents Hilda and Christian Cruse near Canton. Delores married Bernie Gayer on March 14, 1947 at the Canton Lutheran Church, Canton, SD. Together they lived on the Gayer family farm, south of Rock Valley, where they raised their four children. Delores later worked at the Rock Valley Golf Club, was an active charter member at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, and cherished her Norwegian heritage. She enjoyed raising miniature dachshunds and was well known for her cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies. Bernie died on December 23, 2008. Delores moved to the Canton Good Samaritan Home December 4, 2012.

Surviving relatives include sons, Terry (Marilee) Gayer of Glenwood, IA, David (Diann) Gayer of Spirit Lake, IA; daughter, Lori (Jan) Pudenz of Canton, SD; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Nelson of Canton, SD. Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie; son, Tom Gayer; mother, Olga Cruse; grandparents, Hilda and Christian Cruse; brother-in-law, Lloyd Gayer; special uncle, Harold Cruse.
