Obituary: BYRON CENTER, MICHIGAN- LENNETH D. TER HORST, 54, of Byron Center, Michigan, formerly of Ireton, Iowa, died Monday, March 31, 2008 at Byron Center.

Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton with Rev. Mark Heijerman officiating. Burial will precede the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A family prayer service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Porter Funeral Home in Ireton. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com. The family requests memorials are directed to New Life Treatment Center in Woodstock, MN.

Lenneth Dean Ter Horst was born May 11, 1953 in Sioux Center, IA, the son of Lawrence and Dinah (Schiebout) Ter Horst. Len attended Ireton Christian grade school and Unity Christian High School.

After graduating from high school Len attended Dordt College for one year. Then he worked in both Michigan and northwest Iowa before moving to Escondido, CA in 1981, where he worked in construction. In 1991, he moved to Byron Center, MI where he lived until the time of his death. There he operated an independent construction and remodeling business.

Len loved animals. He participated in 4-H, and raised lambs. He also enjoyed working on his car as a young person. In recent years he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and remodeling his home.
He is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Dinah of Ireton; three brothers and their wives, Eugene and Mary of Byron Center, MI, Evan and Ann of Ireton, and Daniel and Barb of Escondido, CA; two sisters and their husbands, Sharon and Lowell Green of Logan, IA and Laura and Rodney Van Ravenswaay of Sioux Center, IA.

Len was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bert and Gertrude Ter Horst, Christian and Lena Schiebout; and one nephew.
