John Gourley the aged father of James Gourley who lives down about half way between Rock Valley and Hudson died Sunday at the ripe age of 82 years. The deceased was a member of the Catholic Church much respected by every one who knew him. The funeral was held from St. Mary’s Church of this place Tuesday.

(According to the 1925 census of his son James, John’s wife’s name was Mary Mc Quillien. In the 1900 census John came to the USA in 1879 and was born March 1825 in Scotland. In the obit of son James it is mentioned three sisters preceded James in death, so they would have been daughters of John)
