Josephine Redden Gronda, 82, of Eagle Rock, MO, formerly of Orange City, died Thursday September 1, 1994, at the Barry County Care Center in Cassville, MO.Services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 3 at the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. Harlan Van Oort of the American Reformed Church in Orange City officiated. Burial was in the West
Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.Mrs. Gronda was born October 12, 1911, at Scranton, the daughter of Earl and Jennie (Robertson) Dunham. She received her education in Iowa, graduating from the Jefferson High School. She married Henry Redden in 1939.
They made their home in Orange City. He died in 1967. She married William Gronda. He preceded her in death. She had been a resident of Eagle Rock the last five years. She lived most of her life in Orange City, but owned and operated
restaurants in Lohrville and Coon Rapids.Mrs. Gronda was a member of the American Reformed Church, Order of Eastern Star, and Royal Neighbors, all in Orange City. Reformed Church in Sheldon, where she was a member of the Golden Hour Circle.
Survivors include her husband; two stepdaughters, Beverly and her husband, Calvin Heemstra of Orange City and Helen and her husband, James Bilsland of Sioux City; a stepson, Kenneth and his wife, Janice Bolkema of Sheldon; nine stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Florence Jacobsma of Hospers and Mrs. Alys Jacobsma of Doon; and nieces and nephews:
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Horton and Henry; and two sisters Jennie and Mabel.
