Mrs. Theresa Gourley, 83, of the Hudson vicinity, a pioneer of Sioux county, died Thursday, July 24, following a long illness.
Funeral services were held at the Catholic church at Rock Valley on Monday morning of last week with Rev. Fr. McGoey in charge. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery in Rock Valley.

Theresa McNaughton was born in Ireland May 12, 1864, and went to Chicago when she was 20 years old. She married James Gourley in Chicago June 24, 1886, and then came to the homestead, east of Hudson in Sioux County. She lived on the home stead 61 years. At one time in the early days Mr.Gourley returned to Chicago where he was employed while his wife and children remained on the farm.

Her husband died 14 years ago. She is survived by nine daughters and two sons, Agnes and James Gourley, who are at the home place, Mrs. Mayme Vande More, Mrs. Pearl Lode and Charles Gourley, also of Hudson; Mrs. Rose Walker and Mrs.Lottie Olson of Hollywood, Calif.; Mrs.Grace Walker of Centerville, S. D.; Mrs. Ellen Waldorf of Vnuon, Iowa; Mrs. Irene Kohls of Moville and Ruby Gourley of Cherokee. There are 17 great grandchildren and 17 grandchildren.
Mrs. Paul Scott of Hawarden is one of the grandchildren.
