William" Bill " De Weerd, 86, of Inwood died Friday, November 4, at the George Good Samaritan Center. Funeral service was at 10 : 30 a . m .
Monday at the Christian Reformed Church at Inwood. Burial was at Richland
Cemetery, Inwood.

De Weerd was born March 16, 1919, to John and Jane (Zwart) De Weerd in Liberal Township, Lyon County. He attended school near Carmel. He married Marie De Groot on September 29, 1948, near Sioux Center. They lived in Sheldon while he drove truck from 1948 -1958. He was a hog buyer for Swift while the family lived in Matlock, later moving to Hudson, South Dakota. After retirement, they moved to Inwood, where he was the caretaker for Richland Cemetery.

He moved to George Good Samaritan Center September 1, 2005. He was active in various church activities such as the consistory, Sunday school, catechism and prison ministries. He is survived by his wife; sons Ron (Pat) De Weerd of Rock Valley and Kevin (Shirley) De Weerd of Hudson; daughters, Ardi Anema of Merritt Island, Florida, Glen (Randy) Meendering and Lee (Erv) Berentschot, all of Inwood; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and brother, Howard (Helen) De Weerd of Edgerton, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth De Weerd; a granddaughter; brothers, Ray and Al De Weerd; and sisters, Ida Korthals, Wynn Van't Hul, Alice Van Wyhe, Rowena Van Wyhe and Anna Pennings.
