Rev. Raymond Denekas
The Rev. Raymond Denekas, 73, Rock Valley, died Friday, May 17, in Hegg Memorial Hospital Rock Valley.

Mr. Denekas was born June 29,1917, in German Valley, 111. He graduated from Central College of Pella, Iowa, and Western Seminary of Holland Mich. He married Edith Mooi Oct. 1, 1943, in Holland, Mich. He served churches in Lennox, Holland, Mich., Annville, Ky., Willow Lake, and George and Inwood, Iowa. In 1982, he became associate pastor at the First Reformed Church of Rock Valley and also served at Bethel Reformed Church of Davis.

He was a member and past officer of Rock Valley Kiwanis Club, member and director of the Nebraska-Iowa District Kiwanis Foundation, past lieutenant governor of Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis District, Division 3, and past Chairman of Spiritual Aims Committee of Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis District

His wife died Aug. 24,1990. Survivors include a son, James, LeMars, Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Carol) De Jong, Belle Plaine, Iowa; five grandchildren; a brother, Walter, Winnebago, ILL and two sisters: Mrs. Charles (Marie) Stacy and Pearl Meyers, both of Rockford, IL.

Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in First Reformed Church of Rock Valley. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Visitation was held all day Tuesday at the Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley.
