Frederick "Fritz" Herweyer
Frederick''Fritz" Herweyer, 64, of Orange City, died unexpectedly Monday, June 8, at a Sioux Falls hospital.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at First Christian Reformed Church. The Rev. Ralph Pontier officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery at Orange City.
Herweyer was born July 14, 1922, in Inwood. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Johanna Dorothy Rens on February 7, 1945, in Sioux Center and moved to Orange City in 1954. He was semi-retired but remained active as a bus driver and repairman for the Orange City Christian School for 10 .years.
Herweyer was a member of First Christian Reformed Church. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Doornink Brunsting 'Post #199;of the American Legion at Sioux Center.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Wanda Wichers, and a son, James L., both of Orange City; two brothers, William of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Henry of Lakeland, Florida; four sisters, Jen Bleeker and Anne Brommer, both of Sioux Center, Mike Dirksen of Maurice and Henrietta Daale, Jr. of Hawarden; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
