Monday For Mrs. Jim Herweyer Dies Friday At Ireton, Iowa
Funeral services were held Monday, April 29, at 1:30 p.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed church here for Mrs. Jim Herweyer, nee Henrietta Van Der Ven, 61, who passed away early Friday evening; at the home of her sister in Ireton.
Services were held at the Vander Ploeg Funeral home immediately preceding church services. The Rev. R. Venema officiated. Burial was made in the Sioux Center cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg's.
Mrs. Herweyer was bom April 13, 1896, in The Netherlands. On January I7, 1917. she was united in marriage to Jim Herweyer who preceded her in death on February 28, 1957.
Following her marriage, Mrs. Herweyer lived on a farm near Failview, S. D., for eight years and then moved to a farm near Sioux Center where the family lived for 21 years.
Near the end of WWII the family moved to a farm near Hawarden where they resided for about seven years. The past four years were spent in retirement in Sioux Center.
Mrs. Herweyer is survived by three sons William and Henry of Grand Rapids MI and Fred of Orange City, four daughters Jennie (Mrs. Casey Bleeker) of Sioux Center, Margaret (Mrs. Henry Hubers) and Anna (Mrs. Don Brommer, both of Sioux Center and Henrietta (Mrs. Peter Daale of Hawarden. ; one brother Henry Vander Ven of Hawarden; three sisters, Anna Mrs. Andrew Elgersma) of Ireton; Hattie (Mrs. Dick Huenink of Firth NE; and Agnes (Mrs. Gerrit Van Noorst) of Stickney SD 19 grandchildren. One daughter died in infancy.
