Obituary of C. A. Hatfield
Cary A. Hatfield, son of Perkins and Eliza Janes Hatfield, was born July 10, 1861, at Maquoketa arid, departed this life Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1937, in the home of his son, Gerald Hatfield, at St. Joseph, Mo., where he had been visiting for two weeks.
Mr. Hatfield was a pioneer of Ireton, coming to Sioux county in 1883, purchasing land and building a home. He was united in marriage Oct. 27, 1885, with Mina V. Aurner of Ireton. Three children were born to this union, Mrs. Lawrence Talbott of Graham, Mo. Charles A. dying in infancy in 1893, and Gerald L. in whose home he died.
Having sold his home in Ireton in 1902, Mr. Hatfield moved with his family to Estelline, S. D., where they lived for three years. He then moved to Crookston, Minn., where he lived until he moved to the vicinity of •Graham, Mo., in 1911. He moved into •the town of Graham in 1920, working in the store with his son in law, Lawrence Talbott, until 1926 at which time he retired from active work. Since June he failed rapidly in health.
In addition to his wife, daughter and son, he is survived by two grandsons, Walter and Louis Talbott; three nieces, Floy Arnold, Hazel Hall and Lois Aske, and a host of close friends and neighbors.
Mr. Hatfield was baptized in the Mehtodist church but in later years attended the Christian church. He was a member of the Modern Woodman lodge.
