Jacob Haupert
Jacob M. Haupert, 81, of Alton died unexpectedly Sunday at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. The Rev. David Hogan will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
Mr. Haupert was born March 6, 1902, rural Alton. He farmed in the Alton area until shortly after marriage to Hilda Pottebaum Nov. 26, 1929, at Alton. He then began employment at the Farmer's Co-op Elevator in Alton. He later managed the Farmer's Co-op Service Station, retiring in 1962. After his retirement he worked part time at Silent Sioux at Orange City and later at Alton Premium Feeds. He also assisted in farm work in the area. Mrs. Haupert died Aug. 14, 1977.He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Rosary Society of the church. Survivors include three sons, Dale of Atlantic, Dennis of Memphis, Tenn., and Gerald of Sergeant Bluff; five daughters, Miss Elaine and Miss Lorraine, both of Orange City, Mrs. Frank (Ardella) Colabello Jr., of Omaha, Mrs. Ronald (Judy) Green of Aurora, Colo., and Miss Jean of Apple Valley, Minn.; two brothers, Nick of Remsen and Lawrence of Pipestone, Minn.; four sisters, Mrs. Mike (Margaret) Caspar of Rock Valley, Mrs. William (Cecelia) Stallman of Independence, Mo.; Mrs. Ray(Carlinda) Portz of Pipestone and Mrs. Frank (Severna) Spieler of Granville and 13 grandchildren.
