Dorothy Van Eck, 62, died Thursday [January 9] at her home in Orange City. Services were at American Reformed Church, Rev. Martin Vander Wilt officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery.

Van Eck, the former Dorothy Muller, was born February 10, 1923, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She graduated from Western Michigan University. She married Dr. Edward Van Eck on April 27, 1946, in Holland, Michigan. They made their home in Ann Arbor where she was a staff artist at the University of Michigan. They moved to Kansas in 1950 and in 1953 moved back to Holland where she was interior designer for Brouwer Furniture Co. In 1958, Dr. and Mrs. Van Eck were commissioned as missionaries to India for the Reformed Church in America. In 1963, they moved to Orange City where she became an active member of the Public Library Board, was co-chairperson of the first Tulip Festival flower show and taught art classes at Northwestern College, Unity Christian High School and the Christian Elementary School. She was a member of American Reformed Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Eric, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and David of Orange City; a sister, Virginia Zuidema of Loveland, Colorado; her stepmother, Doris Muller of Sun City, Arizona; and six grandchildren.
