Ernest Van Driessen
June 3, 1917-December 20, 1998

Ernest Van Driessen, 81, of Sioux Center died Sunday, December 20, at Sioux Center Community Hospital. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lebanon Christian Reformed Church with the Revs. Paul Bakker and James Hoogeveen officiating. Burial was in Lebanon Cemetery.

Van Driessen was born June 3, 1917, in Rock Valley, the son of Dick and Johanna (Burgers) Van Driessen. He moved with his family to Beaver Creek, Minnesota, where he attended the area rural school. He later moved with his family to Valley Springs, South Dakota. He married Anna Vander Esch on January 29, 1941, in Lebanon. The couple farmed near Ireton for five years and near Hawarden for 35 years. They retired and moved to Sioux Center in 1980. He was a member of Lebanon Christian Reformed Church, where he served as an elder.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters and their husbands, Erlene and Gordon Johnson of Sioux City, Mary Ann and Henry Klarenbeek of Edgerton, Minnesota, Delores and Garry Zonnefeld of Sioux Center, Lois and the Rev. James Hoogeveen of Sioux Falls and Rosa and Gary Schepel of Luverne, Minnesota; a son and his wife, Charles and Nola of Hawarden; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Johanna Ackerman of Luverne; and a sister-in-law, Nellie Van Driessen of Volga, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John; and two sisters, Margaret Top and Jennie Van Roekel.

Pallbearers were Gregg and Ryan Zonnefeld, Jeff Hoogeveen, Brent Schepel, John Brandt and Ron Van Grootheest.
