Lived in Sioux County half a century. Herman Heeren, a resident of Sioux county for. many years passed away at the Hawarden hospital at 1:15 last Friday morning. He suffered an attack of the flu about three weeks –preceding his death and was brought to the hospital two weeks later.
Funeral services were held at the Trinity Lutheran church in Hawarden at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon, with Rev. C. A. Burkhart in charge. Interment was made at LeMars .
Herman Heeren was born near Le Mars August 4,1880, and passed away at Hawarden• February 18, 1944, at the age of 63 years, 6 months and 14 days. At the age of about six or seven he moved with his parents to a farm- three miles northwest of Hawarden and later he moved onto a farm four miles south, of Ireton. About 1890, he moved to a farm about eight miles southeast of Hawarden, where
he lived until about a year ago, when he located five miles south of Hawarden.
He was married to Mina Clarke and to this union were born four children, two girls and two boys, who survive him.
The children are Mrs. Fred Allen and Glenn Heeren of Alcester, Mrs. Fred Handy of Los Angeles, Calif., and Richard LeMar Heeren, who is in the army and stationed at Camp Lowery, Colo., and one step-son, Verlin Clarke of Glendale, Calif. He also leaves three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Arend Ullman of Canby, Minn.; Mrs. Gust Hein DeSmet, S. D.; Mrs. George Smith, LeMars; John F., Gerhard J., and Edward Heeren of Hawarden.
