May 1, 1923---- June11, 2005
Mr. Roy Vanden Hul, age 82, of Orange City, passed away on Saturday, June 11, at the St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, June 14, at 1:30pm, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Jonathan Opgenorth will officiate. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
Roy was born on May 1, 1923, in rural Orange City, the son of Case and Sadie (VanderWaal) Vanden Hul. He was raised at Orange City. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On January 19, 1949, he married Jeanette Vande Griend in Orange City. They farmed north of Orange City. He was also employed at Silent Sioux, Vogel Paint, and H i - Precision, all in Orange City. In December of 1997, they moved into Orange City. Mr. Vanden Hul was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church, where he and his wife belonged to the Booster Club. He was also a member of the Pressman-Kosters American Legion Post in Orange City. He enjoyed having morning coffee with his friends at Hardees in Orange City. Survivors include his wife of 56 years; a son, Rodney Vanden Hul, of Orange City; two daughters, Jolene Vanden Hul, of Orange City; and Linda, and her husband, Mike Heuertz, of Le Mars; and five grandchildren, Rebecca Heuertz, and her fiance', Gene Kerber, of Pierce, Nebraska; Jessica Heuertz, of Le Mars; Christopher Heuertz, of Cedar Falls; Rachel Heuertz, of Le Mars; and Nicholas Heuertz, of Le Mars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, John Vanden Hul, Elizabeth Vander Veen, and Ted Vanden Hul.
