INTERMENT: Hillside Cemetery, Doon, Iowa
John was born September 6, 1932 near Doon, son of Jacob and Minnie (Burggraaf) Van Den Top. He married Gertrude Van Bemmel on March 10, 1951 at Doon. They lived in Washington State three years before farming near Doon. They retired and moved into Doon 1994. The past four years John had been working at Rock Industries at Rock Valley until his illness. John had been an elder and a deacon at the Protestant Reformed Church. John died April 12, 2000 at his home in Doon. He was 67 years, 7 months, 6 days of age.
Surviving relatives include his wife Gertrude; son Marvin and LaDonna Van Den Top and family Jessica, Krista, Kelsey, Trevor and Vanessa of Boyden; daughters and their husbands, Vi and Alan De Boer and family Bradley and fiance Jill Van Mannen, Andon of Doon, IA, LaVon and Steve Abma and family Jodi, Janae of Rock Valley, IA, five brothers and their wives, Gerrit John and Jeanette of Rock Valley, Albert and Rika of Rock Valley, Minard and Cora of Doon, Peter and Wilmina of Doon, Elmer and Grace of Rock Valley; sister and her husband Alice and Edwin Van Ginkel of Doon; two sisters-in-law Arlene Van Den Top of Rock Valley, Ellen Van Den Top of Lynden, Washington; nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Andrew Van Den Top.
