Death Follows Long Illness
Mrs. Glen Alvine, who has suffered from leakage of the heart for a number of years, passed away Monday evening at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. Lendt.
Elenora Dorothea Katherine Lendt was born in Ireton July 10, 1900, and died October 13, 1924, and so was 24 years, 8 months and 3 days old at the time of her death. When a child she contracted measles and ever since she has suffered with heart trouble. She was bedfast for about a year. She attended the Ireton public schools but was forced to give up school work because of ill health. In 1915 she was confirmed with a class of nine in the Lutheran church. The late Mrs. Wayne Earll was a member of her confirmation class. On April 14, 1923, she was united in holy matrimony with Glen Alvine.
Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her departure her parents, two brothers, Chris and Paul Lendt, and two sisters, Mary Lendt, all of Ireton, and Mrs. Agnes Smith of Richmond, Calif.
Funeral services were held from the Lutheran church at 2:30 this afternoon, Rev. J. E. Rich. Schmidt having charge of the services. Interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

In the Digital Archives of Sioux County is the Oct. 16 issue of the Ireton Ledger containing a longer obit. However, the entire left-hand side of the newspaper column containing the obit appears to be buried in the binding margin of the microfilmed newspaper. It was possible to glean a few additional details:
She was characterized as popular, and having a "happy disposition." The services were largely attended and the floral tributes numerous and beautiful.
She spent her life in Ireton except for a few seasons spent in Minnesota (city illegible), where she was employed in millinery work.
Her husband Glenn and his father, P. J. Alvine, were in the meat and grocery business.
Last spring she was taken with a severe attack of [heart?] trouble and was bedfast for [several?] months. She was able to enjoy the summer air for a time, but had a relapse a few weeks ago.Obituaries of other family members show her parents as Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Lendt.
"Glenn" seems to be the most common spelling of her husband's name.
Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Alvine and Glenn moved to Long Beach, California, in 1925 (Hawarden Independent, May 14, 1925).
