Arnold "Butch" Schoellerman, 57, of Rapid City, South Dakota, formerly of Sioux Center/Lebanon area, died of an apparent heart attack Friday, November 4. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church, rural Sioux Center, with the Rev. Dan Kordahl officiating. Burial was at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
Schoellerman was born July 17, 1948 to Richard and Lucinda (Williams) Schoellerman at Hudson, South Dakota. He attended school at Sioux Center. He joined the U.S. Army and served for two years, one of those in Vietnam. During the Vietnam conflict, he earned a Bronze Star and an Army Commendation Medal.
He married Lois Ymker on June 19, 1971, at Rock Valley. Together they owned and operated a trucking company and he was employed as development project manager for Edelweiss Mountain Association until his death. They had just moved to the Rapid City area two years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; mother, Lucinda Schoellerman of Lebanon; brothers, Ron (Anne) of Vermillion, South Dakota, Monty (Shelly) of Lebanon, Roger (Faye) of Beresford, South Dakota; sisters, Phyllis (John) Van Beek of Volin, South Dakota, Doralee (John) Lynch of Burbank, South Dakota, Candace (Warren) Gradert of Sioux Center; 33 nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Schoellerman.
