Albert Maassen, 37, of rural Fairview died Tuesday, May 3, in the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls after a long illness.

Services were at 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, in the Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley. The Rev. William Lamain officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation was from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mr. Maassen was born Nov. 18, 1945, at Hull, and attended rural schools. He married Mary Ann Hoogendoorn Nov. 24, 1967, at Sioux Center, Iowa. They farmed in the rural fairview area.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Curtis, Carl, Kevin, Joel, and Nathan, all at home; four daughters, Margaret, Sharon, Jana, and Laura, all at home; his mother, Alieda Maassen of Rock Valley; and two brothers, Richard of Hull and John of Valley Springs.
