Ardis R. Peters, 75, of Westfield died Thursday, Feb. 15, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ in Westfield with Pastor Marty Healy officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Akron. Visitation was from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mrs. Peters was born Nov. 7, 1920, in LeMars, the daughter of Howard E. and Lavina (Hoffman) Morehead. She was a lifelong resident of Plymouth County and attended Westfield Public School. She married Herbert Yates in 1937. She married John Peters in 1970. He died May 30, 1990. She worked for Cudahy Packing Plant in Sioux City and did restaurant work for 15 years. She worked for Coilcraft at Hawarden and Zenith Corp. in Sioux City. She also worked part time for the Westfield School District.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia (Yates) and her husband, David Silhacek of Westfield; her mother, Lavina Newman of Westfield; a brother, Lowell Morehead and his wife, Arlene of Westfield; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Janiece Black and a stepson, Donald Peters both of Akron; seven stepgrandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; her stepfather, Henry Newman; and an infant daughter, Michelle.
