Arlyn Roe Age 77

Arlyn Roe, 77, of Inwood, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Canton-Inwood Hospital, Canton, SD. Funeral service was held Saturday at 10:30 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Inwood. Burial was at Richland Cemetery, Inwood.

Arlyn G. Roe was born July 3, 1926 in Canton, SD to Arthur and Palma (Monrad) Roe. He graduated from Canton High School in 1944 and Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD where he was a member of the concert choir and male quartet. Arlyn married Barbara Swenson on August 4, 1949 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Inwood. The couple moved to Brookings, SD where he owned a photography studio for nearly 20 years and subsequently held various sales positions in the Brookings area. In 1987, the couple moved to Pasadena, TX where Arlyn worked in a family business. In 1991, they retired and moved to Inwood.

Arlyn was active in Lions Club, Kiwanis Club and various other civic activities. He was an accomplished choral singer and vocal soloist in church and community groups, including the Grieg Men's Chorus of Canton, SD. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Inwood.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; 6 children: Thomas (Mary) Roe of Brookings, SD, Jane Sullivan of Fort Worth, TX, Mary (Larry) Praytor of Pasadena, TX, Margaret Roe of Canby, MN, Andrew (Rhonda) Roe of Maple Grove, MN, Kathryn (Todd) Lawrence of Sioux Falls, SD; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers Evvard (Merlene) Roe of Grand Island, NE, Ross (Annette) Roe of Grants Pass, OR; sisters Edellyn Kudrna and Maevis Hales both of Canton, SD.
