James Lewis Edmunds, 56, rural Hawarden, died March 10 at Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. of brief illness.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. March 13 in the Dow Funeral Home at Hawarden. The Rev. Herbert Gould officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Edmunds was born July 10, 1919 in Hawarden, lived in the area all of his life and worked as a cement mason. He served in World War II.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Edmunds of rural Hawarden; two sisters, Mrs. Murton (Helen) Peters of Torrance, Calif. and Mrs. Ken (Essie) Tucker of Alcester, S.D. and three brothers, William of Hawarden, LaVere of Canton, S.D. and Richard of Stanton, Calif.
