John Vande Hoef passed away Friday afternoon in Rock Valley, Iowa, at the age of 83 years. He was born on November 2, 1915, in Maurice, Iowa to Maas and Hattie (Bleyenberg) Vande Hoef. He farmed in the Sioux Center area. On December 30, 1938, he married Grace Westerbeek in Sioux Center. She passed away on August 5, 1974. He married Aaltje Nieuwkoop on December 16, 1977, in Rock Valley who now survives.
The survivors also include six children: Marvin & Sharon Vande Hoef of Le Mars, IA; Janice & Henry Van Bochove of Inwood; Willard (Bill) Vande Hoef of Alton; Harlan and Rochelle Vande Hoef of Sioux Center; Debra & Roger Van Bruggen of Hospers; and Beverly and Allen Hooyer of Sioux Center; Step-children: Joan & Robert Ahlers of Missouri Valley; Bill & Carol Van Gammeren of Inwood; and Dan & Jan Riley of Round Lake, MN; 21 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and 11 greatgrandchildren; five sisters: Gertrude, Mrs. Case Schelling of Sioux Center; Ida, Mrs. Joe Van Veldhuizen of Battle Ground, WA; Margaret, Mrs. Jake Vande Stouwe of Rock Valley; Jeanette Van Kekerix of Rock Valley; and Henrietta Van Beek of Doon; and two sisters-in-law: Esther Vande Hoef of Luverne, MN; and Suzanne Vande Hoef of Lynden, WA. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick and Art, one granddaughter and one
step-daughter.
