From the Alton Democrat of August 9, 1902
Orange City News.
Mrs. John Schreur aged thirty-two wandered away last week Wednesday from the home of her mother Mrs. Aalderhof where she and her children resided and was not found till Sunday when her decomposed body was found hanging to a willow tree two miles east and half a mile north of town. A large searching party had been out most of the time since her disappearance but failed to, find her though-she was traced to near the
spot where she hanged herself. Jopepb Heemstra and wife discovered the body while driving to church Sunday morning. She was despondent over the death of her husband last winter. She leaves three small children. Funeral services occurred Sunday conducted by Rev. Staplekamp.
(This was found to be Elizabeth/Lizzie born Gysbertje Ardelerhof born 22 Dec 1868 in Harderwijk Neth. To Brand Arkelerhof 1835-1873 and Willemtje Smienk 1845-1918. Brand died in the Neth. And Willemtje died in Orange City. Her husband was Johan W. Schreur born 1872 died 1902. She had four children Gezina 1894, Willempje 1897, Jessie 1899 and Nick 1901. Nick went by the name of Nick Schreurs Dykstra, assumed adopted by a Dykstra family. There were several presumed brothers of Lizzie buried in Sioux County cemeteries, Brand, Jan and Tijmen. All died prior to 1900. )
